Another One Bites The Dust...

What I was afraid would happen before the homecoming dance, has in fact happened, just two days after the dance. Lauren's boyfriend broke up with her on Tuesday.

Lauren and I were at a soccer game, of one of my students, when he broke the news to her over the phone. He hadn't really spoken to her Monday and Tuesday, so I think she was kinda expecting this. It still hurt, but hopefully she will get over him soon.

So, stay tuned for the next letter, as Dennis would say.

Lauren's Homecoming Pictures

Rock The Night Away

Lauren's homecoming was yesterday and she attended with her new boyfriend Jeremy. Dennis likes to say she is on the "J's" now. We hadn't met him before tonight, which made me nervous. She has been with him for just over a month. He is a football player on the freshman team and is one year behind Lauren in school. She either likes them older or younger:)

Anyways, we went dress shopping several weeks ago. Lauren tried on 50-75 dresses, until we had it narrowed down to 2 dresses. Dennis liked this black one and I liked this goldish dress, of course we like different dresses.

Dennis and I were stationed outside the dressing room with about 10 other parents. Lauren had just come out with the black dress on and Dennis determined that it was the one she should get. I wasn't convinced and asked her to try on the goldish dress one more time. As soon as she came out with the dress on, another parent said aloud, "That's the one!" I was favoring this one, as well, but she gave me the push to determine that this was the one. She looked amazing in it. Kinda like your wedding dress, you know when you try it on. It was made for her; her skin tone and hair color. So, we bought the dress and then began the quest for the perfect shoes and jewelry. I thought finding shoes was going to be difficult because this dress was an odd color. In the store, it was a dull gold, kinda like a pastel shade of gold. But outside it appears to be chocolate brown, which we didn't realize until yesterday and you should see in the pictures. Jeremy's tie is gold and Lauren's dress looks brown.

We went to JCPenney's and found shoes right away, which surprised me. Next, we had to find jewelry. We went to Icing in the mall; surprisingly they only had 2 options for her, being she needed gold jewelry. By this time, Dennis was getting ornery, because he just loves to shop with us:) Lauren and I enlisted the advice of the salespeople and found a nice gold necklace and earrings. Done!! Lauren was so excited!

Next, we made a hair appointment and my mom gave her the money to get her nails done. She had her hair and nails done at the Avenue. When we were there watching Lauren, one of the Avenue workers asked Emily if she wanted her nails done. Of course, she did and the lady did a great job on her! She made Emily feel special on Lauren's day, of which Emily was having a difficult time dealing with.

After hair and nails, we hung out at home for a few hours and then met up with Lauren's date and everyone else at Roethke Park. After everyone was at the park, they piled into the limo and headed to one of the kid's house for pictures. All the parents followed the limo and took more pictures at this house with a pond, flower garden and nice backyard.

Once all the pictures were taken, the kids piled back into the limo and headed to Spencer's for dinner. Lauren told me, this morning, that she had steak for dinner; yikes! She has never been one to consider anyone else's cost. She said Jeremy split a pizza with someone else, probably because she got a steak! After dinner, the kids headed to the mall to flaunt their stuff and from the looks of the pictures, they had a good time.

After the mall, the limo took them to the dance and again, the pictures Lauren took show she had a good time. Dennis had to pick her up from the dance at midnight and then take her and Emily to my mom's house because they both have their Religious Education classes this morning at 9:20 a.m. All I can say is, glad it isn't me:) They both don't seem to mind. Lauren said she was tired this morning, but she didn't complain about going to class.

I'm working on posting a slide show of pictures I took and ones that Lauren took as well. Stayed tuned!
